Fund Raising Idea From Elizabeth B.

In the lovely small apartment of Elizabeth B. (the honored mother of Gene) is a collection of building art.

Each one of them is a reproduction of one of the historic buildings around Richmond Hill, GA. She bought them over the years from various fund raising groups and they make a very nice display.

I haven’t seen anything like them in the Pasadena area. I suspect they would make a very good fund raiser for the historic society or Pasadena Heritage or even Mothers Club. The one’s she has were made by several outfits in the East the best were from Shepherd’s Heart Foundation in Salem, Ohio.
Snow in August

Rebecca was driving in Yellowstone National Park today and it snowed. It reminded her of a line from John McPhee’s book Rising from the Plains:
In Wyoming they have a saying “If summer falls on a weekend let’s have a picnic.”
Gene’s Dive Resort
Posted by Simon
Last week I spent three days at Gene’s Dive Resort.
the Resort
It is “All Inclusive” so I gained a few pounds and had a wonderful time. We dove two days for fossilized sharks teeth and actually found some.
teeth I found
We didn’t take any underwater pictures because the visibility is about zero without a light and less than a foot with one.

The tide is flowing at about 3 knots so you have to wear a lot of extra weights just to stay in place on the bottom.

Crepe Myrtles

This year the Crepe Myrtles in our area are exceptionally beautiful. Here are a selection of photos that I took while driving from the post office to Starbucks yesterday:

A stunning white bloom
There are a few theories floating around about why the bloom is better this year. All I know is that it is wonderful to see all of these flowering trees. Life is good.

We did some other things when we were in England like visiting Cambridge
And when it wasn’t raining I took some pictures and have posted the best of them on Flickr.
