Gift Bags

My friend Paula B. once claimed that bagged lettuce was the most important invention of the 20th century. I thought it was either the airplane or the semiconductor. Now there is a new contender. The gift bag.. Now even a man can give a gift that appears planned and thoughtful and get it done in one minute:
BTW A survey in 1907 found that many people thought that the most important invention of the 19th century was the safety match. Not the railroad or electricity.

The Fishman Stone

Today the Men of Stone are installing the Fishman Stone. This is our first qualified installation in the second phase.
This picture shows it during its trial on the test stand.
This picture answers the question: “how do you lift them?”

In Sierra Madre the other day they were changing the light bulbs on the street lamps in one of the parking lots. This was the setup used by the city worker:
I waited until he left to take the picture because I didn’t want to get anybody into trouble.. A step ladder on top of a wall leaning on a lamp-post. Oh my. As far as I know no one was hurt.
Did they really say this?

The new building in the Kaiser Sunset Hospital has opened and I had to go there to visit my father-in-law. (He’ll be fine, thanks for asking.) While I was looking for the cafeteria I came across this sign:
Yes the Morgue is next to the Cafe. Which seems like a planning mistake. But why would you want to advertise it. I took the picture with my IPhone and and had a good laugh.

Spring Wild Flowers
Posted by Simon
It is a beautiful spring in Southern California.
We had enough rain to turn the hills green and the wild flowers are blooming.
I have built a small flickr album of wild flower pictures and have posted a story about it on my:
Mount Wilson Toll Road Informer Blog
Which you should be reading anyway.

Beautiful

Nurit finished this beautiful quilt a few weeks ago and we have put it on the bed in the guest room.
It is really outstanding. When she started quilting about six years ago I was sceptical of the choice of hobby. And now I will have to say I was wrong. The quilts are much more beautiful than the needlepoint she used to do. The community of quilters is very simpatico and there are quilting stores in lots of very nice towns. Life is Good.
